For business owners
You're not selling a spreadsheet. You know that. So do we.
After twenty or thirty years, the decision to sell is rarely about the number. It's about the people who work for you, the customers who trust you and the name above the door. Here are honest answers to the things owners actually ask us.
Who will look after my staff?
We do. Employment terms transfer with the business, the existing management stays, and we will put commitments about your people in writing if that matters to you. We buy businesses because of the teams inside them, not in spite of them.
Will my customers notice a difference?
Not in the first year, if we do it properly. Same number, same account manager, same standard of work. We ring the largest accounts personally, with you, before anyone else hears anything.
Will my name and reputation survive?
The brand you built is usually the most valuable thing we're buying. We keep names, we keep local identity, and we don't paint a new logo on the vans in month two.
How do I know I'm not being lowballed?
We show our working. You'll see how we adjusted the profit, what multiple we applied and why — so you can challenge it, or take it to your accountant and get a second view.
What about the tax?
It's often the biggest single deduction from what you actually receive, and structure changes it materially. We'll flag the considerations early so your accountant has time to plan rather than react.
Do I have to leave straight away?
No. Some owners hand over in a month, others stay a year, and some keep a part-time role doing the parts they still enjoy. We write the role down so it's clear for both of us.
What if I change my mind?
Then you change your mind. Plenty of conversations end with 'not yet' and we're happy to pick them up in a year or three. Nothing is announced or shared in the meantime.
Will anyone find out I'm talking to you?
Only if you tell them. No brokers, no listings, NDAs before figures, and meetings wherever suits you. You control the timing of every announcement.
